‍strategy

A credible climate strategy connects your targets to the way you run your business. It translates your climate targets into a transition plan, steers investment and makes your organisation more resilient. Pantarein builds that strategy together with you.

Why a sound climate strategy is crucial

Climate targets without substantiation are vulnerable. They do not survive the audit, they are labelled as greenwashing and they fail to convince stakeholders. And the pressure is coming from several directions at once: regulation (the CSRD, the EU Taxonomy, CBAM) calls for demonstrable policies and targets; customers subject to the CSRD request scope 3 data and climate plans from their suppliers; and banks and investors are factoring climate risks into lending terms and valuations.

On top of that, climate is a business risk in its own right – heat stress, flooding, raw material scarcity, rising carbon costs – as well as a cost issue, through energy prices and ETS carbon pricing, while reputation, brand value and access to talent strengthen the business case. The challenge, then, lies in translating ambitious targets into a financially substantiated strategy that steers investment decisions.

Which businesses does this affect?

  • Companies that want to set climate targets that are science-based and will withstand SBTi validation
  • Organisations that need to draw up a CSRD-compliant transition plan
  • Companies that want to embed climate targets internally through governance, investment policy and decarbonisation plans
  • Organisations that want to align their climate strategy with their carbon footprint and decarbonisation roadmap

Our approach

A climate strategy starts with a reliable baseline and ends with an internally supported plan that guides decision-making.

We work in five steps:

  1. Targets and level of ambition – Based on your carbon footprint (scope 1, 2 and 3), we set quantitative reduction targets for the short and long term, scientifically substantiated using the SBTi methodology and the 1.5°C pathway, with a clear base year and interim milestones.
  2. Reduction measures – We translate the targets into decarbonisation levers such as energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, process changes and collaboration with suppliers and customers.
  3. The financial translation – We translate the decarbonisation measures into a CapEx and OpEx plan.
  4. Risk analysis – We analyse your climate risks (both physical and transition risks) and draw up a plan to prepare for them.
  5. Governance, embedding and reporting – We define responsibilities, link the strategy to investment decisions and to your wider business strategy, and make progress transparent through reporting.

What does it deliver?

  • An internal compass: a climate strategy that guides investment, procurement and product development
  • External trust: a well-substantiated ambition that is credible to investors, customers and other stakeholders
  • A CSRD-compliant transition plan: a strategic document that meets the requirements of ESRS E1
