Decarbonisation roadmap

Knowing where your CO₂ emissions originate is one thing. Knowing how to reduce them – in what order, with which investments and with what business case – is quite another. Pantarein translates your emissions profile into a concrete, supported decarbonisation roadmap.

Why a decarbonisation roadmap matters

A roadmap gives you a pragmatic plan to reduce your CO₂ emissions: phased, financially substantiated and tailored to your business model.

The pressure to act is mounting – through the CSRD, SBTi commitments, customer requirements and investor expectations. A roadmap gives your organisation a clear direction and proves to the outside world that your targets are more than intentions.

Which businesses does this affect?

  • Businesses with a CO₂ footprint that are ready to move towards reduction.
  • Organisations with an SBTi commitment or net-zero ambition that need an actionable pathway.
  • Businesses seeking to build internal support for climate investments.
  • Organisations required to report on reduction plans under the CSRD and/or to meet customer requirements and investor expectations.

Our approach

A decarbonisation roadmap is only useful if it connects to your business model, investment cycles and operational capabilities. We develop a roadmap tailored to the specific context of your organisation and sector, supported by management and actionable in practice.

We work in four steps:

  1. Hotspot analysis – Drawing on your CO₂ footprint, we identify the emissions with the greatest reduction potential. We distinguish emissions that are operationally manageable from those that require fundamental choices about your business model.
  2. Measure analysis – We map the relevant reduction measures, from energy efficiency and renewable energy to supply chain interventions and product transformations. For each measure, we assess the CO₂ reduction potential, feasibility and financial impact.
  3. Phased roadmap – We order the measures in a logical timeline aligned with your reduction targets and investment capacity: quick wins in the short term, structural investments in the medium term and transformative choices over the longer term.
  4. Internal support and embedding – A roadmap only works if it is supported and followed up internally. We guide the presentation to management and the board, we translate the roadmap into concrete responsibilities and milestones, and put in place a monitoring system to track progress and make adjustments.

What does it deliver?

  • An actionable plan: concrete measures with clear ownership and timelines
  • Financial substantiation: business cases per measure, so that investments can be defended internally
  • Prioritisation: clarity on where your greatest levers lie
  • CSRD and SBTi: a roadmap that meets reporting requirements and aligns with your reduction targets
  • Internal support: a plan that is understood and embraced by the people who need to implement it

Next steps

The roadmap is the plan. Execution requires the right foundations and follow-through:

  • CO₂ footprinting – If you do not yet have a robust measurement basis, we build that first.
  • CO₂ target setting and SBTi – If you do not yet have validated reduction targets, an SBTi trajectory can substantiate and validate your roadmap.
  • Sustainability reporting and CSRD – The roadmap as part of your CSRD reporting.
